The TRA’s mission is to ensure that the Telecommunications equipment imported into or manufactured in Lebanon meets a minimum set of regulatory, technical and safety requirements and is compliant with the electromagnetic international standards. This implies that the mentioned equipment does not cause damage toor interfere with the correct working of a public telecommunications network and does not cause harm to the general public or staff working on public telecommunications networks. Generally, type approval certification is required before telecommunication equipment is allowed to be sold in Lebanon. Experts at the TRA have consequently prepared the Type Approval draft regulation in line with industry best practices.
Interested parties are urged to submit their feedback before 15th March 2008* after having reviewed the following documents:
The feedback can be submitted by email at typeapproval@tra.gov.lb and by courier at the TRA, Marfaa 200 Building Second Floor, Beirut Central District along with the Cover Sheet for response to a TRA Consultation
The final version of the regulation will be published in Arabic and English after the end of the Consultation.
* The consultation closing date has been extended from 29th February 2008 to 15th March 2008 further to stakeholders request.
