ICT and Road Safety
Road traffic safety is a global concern nowadays, therefore developing the latest ICT standards for Intelligent Transport Systems and Driver Safety as well as improving driving performance by eliminating the straying factors related to the use of ICT while driving is a must.

According to the Report of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC) released by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, 1.3 million people die each year in traffic related accidents. Driver distraction and road-user behavior, which includes “text messaging” and interfacing with in-vehicle navigation or communication systems while driving, are among the leading contributors to road traffic fatalities and injuries.

ITU Council adopted the "Information and Communication Technology and Road Safety" theme for the international day of Telecommunication and Information Society in 2013 and looks towards its Members to harness the catalytic role of ICTs in improving road safety and traffic management systems.

In that framework, The TRA is working with related Ministries, NGOs and Stakeholders to promote road safety in Lebanon.

This section will include all TRA actions related to this initiative:
