Dr. Imad Hoballah, TRA Acting Chairman and CEO, and Dr. Ahmed Dalal, Provost at the American University of Beirut (AUB), signed yesterday, Thursday, May 26, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the AUB campus in the presence of several TRA staff members. Dr. Fadel Moukalled, Acting Dean of the Engineering Faculty, Dr. Zaher Dawy, Associate Professor and Dr. Karim Kabalan, Chairperson at the ECE department from the AUB were also present.

This cooperation agreement aims at strengthening the relation between the Authority and the American University of Beirut through the exchange of information, expertise and knowledge. The MoU covers various areas such as Student Project Topics, presentations and updates, R&D activities, workshop and training activities where the TRA shall be providing assistance to AUB students.

This MoU project initiated by Dr. Zaher Dawy from AUB and End. Mohamad Ayoub, Senior Spectrum Management Expert at the TRA is the result of several coordination efforts to understand the needs, requirements and procedures of each of both institutions. Dr. Imad Hoballah mentioned that “the TRA is the first regulator to be incepted in Lebanon and as such, it is very important for our institution to open the doors to academia. We will both benefit from our respective expertise and this cooperation will definitely help us improve our work and regulations”. He added: “We are very glad to be here and to have reached this point of cooperation”. Dr. Dallal stated “Boosting the AUB research agenda is of upmost importance and this MoU is a great opportunity ofr us to widen our connections. We are very happy to start our collaboration together and I am sure that we will all work hard to make it a success.”

This MoU is one in a series of other cooperation agreements signed between the Authority and other institutions in the framework of the TRA efforts to build bridges and exchange knowledge and expertise.
