TRA pilots its children protection initiative at the Grand Lycee Franco-Libannais
May 13, 2011

Given that one of TRA’s prerogatives is to protect children online, an awareness project for parents has been initiated by starting with the Grand Lycee Franco-Libannais (GLFL) in Beirut where Mrs. Corine Feghaly, Senior Expert in Consumer Affairs, gave a “Children Protection in Cyberspace” presentation in front of this concerned audience on May 12th, 2011.

Mrs. Feghaly started her presentation by going through all the risks facing children on the net supported by international statistics and studies.

Moreover, she highlighted TRA role and actions towards protecting children in cyberspace and exposed the recommended measures to be undertaken by the parents to help their children surf the internet safely.

Finally a real time demo on facebook was made to expose the dangers facing children while chatting with strangers and to create awareness among parents about the seriousness of this subject.

To elaborate on this initiative, a binding contract between parents and children will be distributed to all complementary, elementary and secondary classes with the purpose to keep parents aware of all their children’s adventures in cyberspace.

This pilot project will be further elaborated to be destined to other private and public schools with the possible cooperation of important stakeholders concerned by this subject.
