The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and the European Commission (NATP-3) are organizing the Euro-Mediterranean Regulators Group (EMERG) event titled “Independent Regulatory Authorities” that will be held on October 19th and 20th , 2010 at the Movenpick Resort in Beirut
The objective of this event is to endorse the development of newly established Telecommunications Regulatory Authorities and examine the type of independence that Regulatory Authorities should entail and debate the merits of greater Euro-Mediterranean approximation in this respect. It will host a number of high-level participants such as the Ministers of Telecommunications of Lebanon and Palestine, the Chairman of EMERG, the Vice-Chairman of BEREC (the new EU institute of regulators), the Chairman and Board Members of Lebanese TRA, a high level representative of the European Commission and other highly ranked officials, as well as the Board of the regulatory authorities participating in EMERG. It will also gather a number of experts from civil society and the industry in the region.
