TRA representatives,
Eng. Lelia El Khazen, Senior Market Analysis Expert,
Eng. Maroulla Haddad, Policy Analysis Expert and
Dr. Wafaa Bou Diab, QoS and Type Approval Expert, participated in the ITU workshop on
“ICT indicators from Policy & Strategy to Impact and Vice versa” that took place in Sharm el Sheikh on June 8-9, 2012 in the presence of the Minister of Communication & Information Technology in Egypt,
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Salem, and a number high level stakeholders from the Arab world.
The workshop focused on the following topics:
- Recent changes in the ICT global metrics & how the Arab region is benchmarked
- Best practices for effective and efficient ICT policies and strategies using the relevant ICT indicators
- Roadmap for Developing Policies & Strategies using ICT Indicators
- Case Studies in the region and globally for developing policies and strategies
During the event, Eng. Lelia El Khazen gave a presentation titled “Lebanon ICT Market, Status and Real Potential" in which she presented the Status of the Telecommunications sector in Lebanon and promoted Broadband as a stimulator to the economic growth, business development and social welfare. En. El Khazen also informed the audience about the ICT policy tools and the regulatory framework that the TRA has been extensively working on setting since its establishment.
