Mrs. Mahassen Ajam, TRA Board Member and head of Information and Consumer Affairs unit, attended the Abu Dhabi MECOM 2010 Telecoms CEO summit conference on May 17-19, 2010.
Held under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, the summit offered the participants the opportunity to meet with more than 35 executives from more than 20 leading telecommunications company in the region and aimed at helping enterprise decision makers decide why, when and how to invest in new technologies, and how to leverage their enterprise communications platform for maximum advantage.
The summit focused on the telecommunications markets in the Middle East and North Africa and discussed their current economic environment, the future growth possibilities, the revenue opportunities, the financing of the telecommunications sector and the challenges of global expansion.
During the summit, Mrs. Ajam attended several crucial presentations among which an interesting one titled “Meeting Arab Development Challenges with Mobile Technologies by Increasing Government, Telecom, and Service Provider Cooperation” given by two Independent International Development Strategists Focusing on the Arab World, Mr. Walid Aradi and Mr. Wes Schwalje
In their presentation the strategists tackled the Arab participation in the UN Global Compact and regional CSR initiatives, the best practices in the developing world we can learn from, the effective models of collaboration for the Arab World and the measuring social and business return on investment (ROI) topic.s
Mr. Firas Sleiman, Senior Enterprise Architect for Abu Dhabi General Services “Musanada” also gave a presentation that interested the TRA due to its approach for communication and information in the public sector. In his presentation, Architect Sleiman discussed the Opportunities and Challenges for the Abu Dhabi Government and gave Worldwide Government Case Studies showing the successes and failures in the public and private sectors around the world.
In a continuous effort to promote transparency, the TRA Lebanon confirms once again its commitment to follow-up closely and stay up to date with the major developments occurring in the telecommunications sector in the Arab region, especially those in regard to information and communications in the public sector.
