The TRA launches the "Optical Fiber Deployment Guidelines" draft document for public consultation
August 12, 2026

The draft consultation on the "Optical Fiber Deployment Guidelines" is designed to establish a national framework for the deployment of fiber optic infrastructure in Lebanon that is aligned with international standards and recognized industry best practices. The proposed Guidelines aim to support efficient, safe, and standardized deployment practices while promoting consistency across the telecommunications sector.

The proposed Guidelines seek to improve coordination and interoperability among operators, public authorities, contractors, infrastructure owners, and other stakeholders involved in the planning, design, and deployment of fiber optic infrastructure. They also aim to ensure that fiber deployment practices are aligned with applicable legislation and internationally recognized technical standards.

Through this consultation, the Authority intends to develop a practical and consistent framework that supports the deployment of high-quality fiber optic infrastructure across Lebanon. The proposed Guidelines are expected to enhance the quality, safety, and consistency of fiber deployments, reduce unnecessary civil works through improved coordination, facilitate broadband expansion, and contribute to the long-term development of Lebanon's telecommunications infrastructure.

The "Optical Fiber Deployment Guidelines" draft document is now being launched for consultation. Interested parties are requested to submit their feedback before 5:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, after reviewing the following documents: Responses to the consultation should be submitted in PDF or Microsoft Word format, together with the completed consultation cover sheet, to fiber_guidelines@tra.gov.lb by the consultation deadline.
