The TRA has recently received a number of queries and complaints from consumers and companies concerning devices suspended from Lebanese mobile networks, or for which notifications have been received regarding unsettled customs fees. These devices had been operating on Lebanese mobile networks without a recorded customs payment associated with their
IMEI number.
Concerned device owners are being notified by SMS from the Ministry of Finance and are asked to regularize their device's status within the deadline stated in the notification. Failing to do so will result in the device's suspension from mobile networks.
These amounts represent customs duties and are neither imposed nor collected by the TRA. The TRA's role is limited to facilitating the regularization and reactivation process where its intervention is required.
Accordingly, the TRA is issuing the following clarification to assist subscribers who have received an SMS indicating that customs fees related to their mobile device have not yet been recorded as settled.
What to do based on your situation?
- I received the SMS and want to pay
- I already paid the customs fees, but I still received the notification to pay by SMS
- I am a commercial company using modems or routers with IMEI numbers
- I am a commercial company using modems or routers with IMEI numbers that have not been pre-authorized
The TRA remains committed to assisting concerned consumers and ensuring clear coordination among the relevant public authorities and service providers.
