The TRA issued the
Significant Market Power (SMP) Regulation where specific markets were identified and defined within wholesale and retail operations. Regular market assessments are conducted to evaluate the level of dominance of each player in a specific market, its power on other players and the level of competition. The presence of dominance can be noticed through a thorough analysis of the situation in the relevant market (growth, penetration rate, entry barriers…) and the market position of the concerned service provider (market share, concentration, profitability …). The TRA imposes certain measures on players designated as having SMP, such as an access obligation, accounting separation obligation or a price control.
