The president of the Republic of Lebanon, H.E. General Michel Sleiman, welcomed the Board Members of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in the Presidency palace on October 23rd 2008. This delegation was headed by the Chairman and CEO of the Authority Dr. Kamal Shehadi, and accompanied by Board Members of which the Commissioner, Board Member, and Head of Information and Consumer Affairs Unit, Ms. Mahassen Ajam, the Commissioner, Board Member, and Head of Telecommunications Technologies Unit, Dr. Imad Y. Hoballah, and the Commissioner, Board Member, and Head of Market and Competition Unit, Mr. Patrick EID.

The president praised and supported the Authority in continuing to thrive for excellence in liberalizing and regulating the telecom sector that will lead to economic prosperity in Lebanon.

The TRA informed the President of the goals that the Authority has envisioned for liberalizing the Telecommunications market, and all achievements till date. The delegation also clarified the Authority's current priorities, supported by the Council of Ministers policy statement, which encompass the rebirth of the Mobile Auction and all preparations related to the launching of the international auction for the licensing of new Broadband market players and to the need to establish Liban Telecom in the shortest period.

The Authority also explained its thrive to building itself as an institution that is independent, transparent, and firm with stakeholders. The delegation also submitted the TRA Annual Report of 2007.
