H.E. Mohammad Choucair appointed new Minister of Telecommunications

The President of the Council of Ministers His Excellency Mr. Saad Hariri announced the formation of a new cabinet on January 31, 2019. It is Mr. Mohammad Choucair who was appointed as the new Minister of Telecommunications succeeding to H.E. Jamal Jarrah who in turn was appointed as Minister of Information.
The handover ceremony took place on February 5, 2019 at the MoT premises in the presence of Mr. Amine Moukheiber, TRA Acting General Manager, Mr. Khalil Daoud, Chairman and General Manager of Libanpost, Mr. Bassel Al Ayoubi, Director General of Investment and Maintenance, Mr. Naji Andraos, Director general of Installation and Equipment at the Ministry of Telecommunications, Imad Kreidieh, Director General of OGERO, and Mr. Naji Abboud, Director of the OSB, and the CEOs of both MIC1 and MIC 2 and Sodetel. Several other stakeholders from the private sector attended the ceremony among which representatives from the companies in charge of the fiber optics deployment in Lebanon and high officials in the ministry.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority would like to congratulate the new minister and is looking forward to a fruitful cooperation with him to enforce Telecom Law 431 and find ways to move forward for the development of the sector and the enforcement of the TRA prerogatives.
