The
Arab Internet Governance Forum (AIGF) is a yearly conference gathering high level professionals to discuss and share their views and experience about the main issues related to the Internet such as access, openness, security and privacy, content, and managing critical resources. This year, AIGF was held in Beirut on 25-27 November at Movenpick and gathered around 350 telecom stakeholders from the public and private sector in Lebanon and abroad.
The TRA Chairman and CEO,
Dr. Imad Hoballah delivered a keynote speech titled
"Internet Governance and Multistakeholderism". Dr. Hoballah who also Chairs the
"Arab Multistakeholder Advisory Group" (AMAG) of the
Internet Governance Forum (IGF) explained how the Internet is currently governed, how it is supposed to be governed, and how the Internet's progressive values should be applied to all people around the world, to societies, to economies, to countries, to the globe, and especially to advancing the cause of freedoms and rights.
