Dr. Hamadoun I. Touré, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) visited Lebanon on Dec 15,16 2013 and visited Speaker Berri and PCM Mikati with Minster Sehnaoui and TRA Acting Chairman and CEO Dr. Imad Hoballah.

Under the Patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Telecommunications, Mr. Nicolas Sehnaoui and in the presence of His Excellency the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Dr. Hamadoun Touré, a press conference was held on Dec 16 at the Phoencia Intercontinental Hotel to discuss Lebanon’s big leap in the digital sector. Dr. Touré spoke very highly of the cooperation between the TRA and the MOT.

Following the press conference, Minister Sehnaoui and Dr. Touré participated in a round table discussion, moderated by Dr. Imad Hoballah, TRA acting chairman and CEO. The round table highlighted the importance of “The Digital Economy Ecosystem” and focused on fostering an open dialogue between ministries, ICT and other sectors’ stakeholders in addition to the private sectors.
