Dr. Imad Hoballah, TRA chairman and CEO participated in a workshop organized by the UNESCO Office in Beirut in collaboration with “Maharat” foundation to celebrate the international Day of Press Freedom. The workshop took place on Wednesday, May 7, at the UNESCO headquarters in Bir Hassan - Beirut.

This workshop falls within the efforts deployed by the UNESCO and “Maharat” foundation to ensure the safety of journalists and fight against impunity. It also stresses on the need to respect the freedom of expression and the privacy of information over the Internet so that journalists can protect their sources, and exchange information freely and safely.

Dr. Hoballah gave an address where he discussed the challenges of online governance and social media platforms and the boundary between privacy and national security requirements. He also reviewed the challenges of cyber warfare and cloud computing. Dr. Hoballah also highlighted the current efforts and undertaken steps to secure online safety in Lebanon and overcome these expanding challenges.
