Broadband World Forum is a yearly event gathering thousands of decision-makers from across the globe to discuss the most pressing and topical issues facing the industry today: Wireless Broadband, Cloud Services and Broadband Home. The 2012 edition was held in October 16-18, 2012 in Amsterdam and featured around 200 exhibitors showcasing ground breaking broadband technologies, applications, solutions and services.
Dr. Ali Krecht, TRA technical Operations Manager, participated in a panel titled: How can Regulators Promote Higher DSL Speeds and Consumer Choice? during which the below issues were discussed:
- Are regulators striking the right balance between incumbents and open-access globally?
- What are the regulatory implications of each DSL evolution technology?
- Can a co-investment model between incumbents and open-access providers be promoted?
- What would it look like?
- Is the BIPT ‘regulatory holiday’ stance the only way to go for regulating vectored DSL?
- Is there a role for vectoring in the EU digital agenda?
- Is it time for the EC to give up on SLU
