Based on the minister of telecommunication’s proposal , the Decree No. 6297, related to the reduction of Internet rates, has been issued by Council of Ministers during its meeting held on August 23, 2011, and published in the Official Gazette on September 15, 2011, and will become binding starting October 1, 2011.

This decree states and applies Internet rates reduction of up to 80% and connection speed and capacity increase of up to 4 to 8 times. Furthermore, academic institutions will benefit of an extra 20% reduction on the cost of Internet services.
