Mrs. Ajam represents the TRA of Lebanon at 11th GSR edition

Mrs. Mahassen Ajam, Board member and Head of Information and consumer affairs unit at the TRA, will be participating in the 11th Annual Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) and the 4th Global Industry Leaders’ Forum (GILF) that will take place on September 21-23 , 2011 in Armenia City, Colombia.
Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies and the Communications Regulatory Commission of Colombia (CRC), this years’ symposium will be held under the theme of "Smart Regulation for a Broadband World".
As the impact of broadband on the economy is increasingly being acknowledged nowadays, the meeting will foster an open dialogue between the worldwide community of regulators and key ICT stakeholders: the private sector, investors and consumers to examine smart regulatory measures regulators can take to achieve broadband for all, foster innovation, and address the complexities and challenges of the broadband ecosystem.
Mrs. Ajam will be moderating a session about “Protecting the rights of all stakeholders in the digital ecosystem” that will tackle the following topics:
- Why do Intellectual property rights (IPR) and content protection (copyrights) play a strategic role in today digital ecosystem? Is it because content is a key element of the broadband ecosystem?
- Who’s responsible for IPR and protection of users in cyberspace? What role for the ICT regulator?
- Understanding the risks and challenges linked to the immediacy, pervasiveness and ever growing number of activities in the digital world. What regulatory measures can be taken to address those risks?
