Mrs. Mahassen Ajam gives a presentation about the TRA’s prerogatives and performance at Women in IT

As part of a series of networking activities organized by Women in IT (WIT), Mrs. Mahassen Ajam, TRA Board Member and head of Information and Consumer Affairs Unit, was invited on March 11, 2011 to give a presentation about the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, its prerogatives that are legally mandated by law, monitoring procedures and the challenges faced till date at WIT’s offices, Berytech bldg, Mathaf.
WIT is an NGO that was founded in 2006 to help women advance by providing access to, and support from, other professional women working in all sectors of technology.
It serves as a platform for professional women to share and exchange information, toggle issues of concern, implement strategies and search for opportunities with the purpose of strengthening the capacity of all women through the usage of ICT.
In that regard, Mrs. Ajam shared among her peers from different industries the role of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in Lebanon, its duties, core competencies, achievements and the challenges faced since its inauguration. Mrs. Ajam delved into the main regulations issued by the TRA, discussed the regulations that were hindered due to the relationship with the Ministry of Telecommunications and revealed the importance of these regulations on the Telecom sector and the Telecom consumer protection in specific. On the other hand, Mrs. Ajam shared with the attendees her experience as a woman in the workforce and the challenges she faced throughout her career.
