The TRA calls for preventing the involvement of the sector in the political polemic

In light of the news issued in the press lately, the TRA published a press release today in the Lebanese newspapers clarifying its stand-point and reiterated its independence from any political polemic or pressure.

The TRA clarified that the Board approved and fully supported the participation of Dr. Imad Hoballah, Acting Chairman and CEO of the TRA in the ITU plenipotentiary conference that took place in Guadalajara, Mexico last October. The participation of Dr. Hoballah in the ITU conference also falls within the Council of Ministers’ decision designating the members of the Lebanese delegation to participate in the ITU conference. Dr. Hoballah was nominated Vice President of the Lebanese delegation till 12th October 2010, and Head of the delegation starting 13th October 2010, further to a proposal by HE Minister Charbel Nahas.

Dr. Hoballah headed the Lebanese delegation’s technical committee who prepared and followed-up on the technical file that was presented at the ITU conference and that lead to the condemn of the Israeli enemy. This is an achievement that the TRA is proud of.

The participation of Dr. Hoballah as Vice president of the Lebanese delegation in the ITU conference till 12th October and as Head of delegation as of 13th October was decided upon in a meeting with HE Minister Nahas on October 4th at the Lebanese Parliament. Also, Dr. Hoballah participated in the press conference that took place on November 23rd 2010 s upon the Minister’s and the Information and Telecommunications Committee’s request to the members of the Lebanese delegation in the ITU conference.

Based on the above-mentioned, the TRA kindly requests from decision makers and the media to prevent from involving the TRA in any political polemic and refrain from publishing statements related to the institution’s or Board’s points of view aside from the official statements published by the Authority.
