The TRA addresses interference issues between Lebanon and Syria
September 08, 2010

In a press release dispatched earlier today, the TRA clarified the issue about the complaints received from the Directorate of Communication-The General Organization for Communications in the Syrian Arab Republic about spectrum interference caused by Lebanese FM stations in the Syrian territories. The Syrian Authority did not specifically request the stopping of al Noor Radio station but requested that necessary actions should be taken to stop interference caused by several Lebanese radio stations such as al Noor, al Charq, al Mahaba and others.

The TRA of Lebanon has taken the necessary actions that fall within the prerogatives entrusted to the Authority by Telecommunications Law 431/2002 in the field of spectrum management. This action is a first step to address the problems related to radio interference between the two countries as well as other technical matters.
