The TRA participates in a meeting organized by Minister Tarek Mitri to discuss interference

The Minister of Information Mr. Tarek Mitri held a meeting in his office at the ministry this week to discuss interference problems and the related corrective measures as well as the future new channeling plans for the FM and TV broadcasting. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Telecommunications Eng. Charbel Nahas, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the Director-General of the Ministry of Information, the representative of the National Audio Visual Media Council, the representative of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the General Director of Television Liban as well as representatives from Audio Visual companies.
The meeting focused on the interference caused by FM broadcasting stations and the negative effect on the ILS and Radio Navigation devices at Rafik Hariri International Airport as well as on the Communication systems and channels between the Control Tower and the airplanes while flying over the Airport.
During the meeting, the TRA acting Chairman briefed the attendees on the current status of radio broadcasting and the problems resulting from the current chaos in this sector. Dr. Hoballah also highlighted the TRA actions that are being taken to resolve this situation and explained the critical technical measures that the FM broadcasters should implement in order to reduce interference and ensure Public safety.
