The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority organized a meeting on Thursday, October 1st with the CEOs of Lebanese ITU sector members to update them about the ongoing preparations of the Global Industry Leaders’ Forum and the Global Symposium for Regulators (GILF/GSR).

Jointly organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Ministry of Telecommunications and the TRA, the GILF/GSR is the largest annual gathering of regulators and operators. This year’s event will be held in Lebanon from the 9th to the12th of November under the theme : “Hands-on or Hands-off? Stimulating growth through effective ICT regulation“ and is expected to gather 400 to 500 telecom professionals, including representatives from over 100 regulators from around the world, to attend.

The meeting presided by Dr. Kamal Shehadi Chairman and CEO of the TRA, was attended by Mr. Maurice Ghazal Lebanon’s representative in ITU, Mr. Claude Bassil, CEO of MTC Touch, Mr. Salem Salameh, CEO of Alfa, Mr. Chafic Chaaya from Al Iktissad Wal Aamal and Mr. Emile Zarife representing Telecom Review.

The meeting was very positive and productive, as the attendees shared their ideas and offered their help and support to secure the success of the event.
