The TRA pledges its support to the European Code of Best Practices for Women and ICT
September 10, 2009

On September 7th, 2009, the TRA signed the European Code of Best Practices for Women and ICT, an initiative which increases awareness and provides practical conditions for progressing up the career ladder, to attract young women to have an interesting and rewarding career in ICT.

This step stemmed from numerous efforts In supporting women in ICT including the active participation in an exchange program with the British Council last fall whereby TRA women staff attended a one week training in England with shadow British women, to bring back and share knowledge with their Lebanese counterparts. This exchange was also followed by a visit of the Women at Work Delegation from the UK to the TRA premises on the 3rd of September 2009 where TRA women staff shared their achievements and goals as active women in the working field.

Also, in pursuing the recommended practices of the Code, TRA women staff attended the Women in IT & British Council networking event which took place on the 4th and 5th of September at the Crowne Plaza in Beirut under the theme ‘Preparing Women for the Digital Future: Crossing Cultural Barriers". High profile women from the IT field coming from the UK, Lebanon and the rest of the NENA region attended this event to discuss various issues including the theme of “Creating cross-cultural, cooperative organizational platform to move forward”.
