The Lebanese Transparency Association (LTA), the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) organized today, May 26th, a conference on Corporate Governance & Access to Information at Intercontinental Phoenicia Hotel.
Held in collaboration with the National Network for the Right of Access to Information and the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative, this conference marked the recent launch of the Access to Information draft law.
Dr. Kamal Shehadi, Chairman and CEO of the TRA gave a presentation on “Improving Regulation through Transparency” where he stressed on the role of the TRA in promoting a competitive market and ensuring market transparency as per Law 431.
This is being achieved through providing a rationale for all the Authority’s decisions by making public all non confidential information, as well as accounting for the stakeholders’ comments and responding to them.
Dr. Shehadi also emphasized on “Access to Information Regulation” issued for consultation on December 2008 and currently being finalized and highlighted the TRA role and work is putting in place a simple and transparent licensing process to facilitate entry to the telecommunications market
