Dr. Imad Hoballah, TRA Board member and Head of Telecommunications Technologies Unit, participated as a keynote speaker in a conference organized by the SAMENA council in Sharm el Sheikh on 4-7 May 2009.

The conference, titled Beyond Connectivity 2009, was under the main theme: Financial Crisis – New Opportunity for Revenue Generation, where speakers tried to answer questions such as:

• What impact will the credit crunch have on user need for information and better connectivity?
• How have telecom operators been challenged to balance operational costs and customer retention?
• Post crisis analyses of the fixed and the mobile markets, regionally and globally
• ARPU: What does it take to measure the success of a new strategy?

Dr. Hoballah, gave a presentation about “Economic Crisis - Recovery Through Investing in Telecommunications” where he detailed the importance of the telecommunications regulators’ role to create a healthy and well structured environment for investments.
