Organized by ITU , the World Telecommunication Policy Forum (WTPF) is an event that took place at Lisbon-Portugal from the 22nd to the 24th of April 2009. With the theme Confronting the Crisis, This high-level international event brought together leaders from government, industry and the global regulatory community to exchange views on the key policy issues arising from today’s fast changing information and communication technology (ICT) environment and address the problems facing vendors, operators and governments.
Delegates engaged in discussions around four broad topic areas:
- Convergence, including Internet-related public policy matters
- Next Generation Networks
- Emerging telecommunications policy and regulatory issues
- The International Telecommunication Regulations (ITRs)
Dr. Kamal Shehadi Chairman and CEO of the TRA attended the event and was interviewed by Mr. David Reid where he discussed the current situation in the telecommunications market in Lebanon, while mentioning the TRA’s liberalization plan and the factors hindering its further development.
