Further to the successful Rights of Way and New Building Requirements workshop held on Thursday, February 26th a meeting with the Order of Engineering and concerned parties was organized on March 4th to further discuss the related consultation and decrees.

Dr. Kamal Shehadi, Chairman and CEO of the TRA, opened this work session and mentioned the importance of broadband in developing the telecommunications sector and the National economy, thus enabling Lebanon to leap frog other countries. This will require specific design and requirements for new building to support the secure delivery of broadband services to residents.

Dr. Shehadi stated that the main purpose of the meeting was to benefit from the Order of Engineers’ expertise that will allow the TRA to finalize the related regulation.

Discussions focused on details and specifications to be applied to all newly constructed buildings to make them capable of supporting both the current and future broadband needs (manholes, telecommunication rooms, ducts specifications)

The session was constructive and new meetings were further scheduled to follow-up on these discussions.
