Dr. Imad Hoballah, Commissioner, Board Member and Head of TTU at the TRA, participated as a speaker in a workshop covering Cyber Security legal issues. Held under the patronage of his Excellency the Minister of Justice Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Al Najar, the workshop entitled "Building the legal Cyber Security capacities" is taking place on February 4th and 5th 2009 at the House of the Lawyer, palace of Justice, Beirut.
The workshop aims at implementing a capacity building program to raise awareness, train and educate Lebanese University students about major issues such as:
- legal and technical components of security in cyberspace
- legislative and regulatory requirements supporting the use of information and communications technology in a safe and effective manner, serving the social and human development and growth
- applicable laws and technical infrastructure that govern the electronic exchange of data and information
- Internet legislation, globally, regionally, and locally
- Electronic democracy
- practice and mutual cooperation of the countries and regional networks in solving cyber-law issues, and integration of the regulatory and legislative frameworks in different countries;
- current status in the Arab region, possibilities, problems, and set-up of the best environment for the development of legal texts related to electronic transactions
- national activities supporting capacity-building and training programs in regard of the above-mentioned topics
