The TRA in coordination with the National Media Council and with the support of the Cyber Crime and the Intellectual Property Rights -part of the Juridical Police-, undertook a campaign to stop illegal FM stations using unlicensed radio frequencies.

The joint statement issued on Friday January 8 declared that the search started from North Lebanon where the working team stopped several unlicensed FM radio stations operating and using illegally radio frequencies. The search and campaign will spread thought the whole Lebanese territory. The illegal use of frequencies resulted in interference on the frequencies allocated to licensed radio stations and the frequencies related to civil aviation creating risk on public safety.

Dr. Kamal Shehadi, Chairman and CEO of the TRA was interviewed on LBC on Sunday January 10 where he stressed on the TRA’s role and effective work to stop illegal stations using unlicensed radio frequencies.
