The TRA has the prerogative of regulating the telecom sector (ref Law 431/2002) and has the exclusivity of managing and controlling the spectrum. It has been proven that the implementation of GSM RF repeater/jammers has a negative impact on the neighborhood and mobile networks overall efficiency. Also, the usage of such equipment is exclusively related to the license granted to mobile operators in Lebanon. To that effect, the TRA has recently published an official memo in the Official Gazette of March 20th, urging users to stop the usage of jammers repeaters and importers to stop importing and selling such equipment and provide the TRA with a report detailing the specs of imported material and its sale destination.
