The TRA is legally mandated for establishing and managing the National Numbering Plan (NNP) for subscribers and Service Providers of telecommunication services. On March 19th, 2008 as a first stage, the TRA issued a new National Numbering Plan and Charging for consultation (closed on May 2nd, 2008). The Authority is currently consulting on the second phase “Administering and Implementing the National Numbering Plan”, which sets out new arrangements for numbering administration, more detailed proposals for the future of short codes, premium rate, shared cost service numbering, and proposals for implementing changes to the numbering plan.
