The
Lebanese Internet Governance Forum (Leb IGF) is a national initiative aimed at opening the debate on Internet governance issues in Lebanon among the various stakeholders representing the public and private sectors, academia and civil and technical society.
For the third year in a row,
Eng. Manal Shihab,
TRA’s Senior Software and Cybersecurity Expert, member of the
Lebanese Multistakeholder Advisory Group (LMAG), participated in the organization of the Lebanese Internet Governance Forum 2024 (LIGF 24/. This event was hosted by St. Joseph University of Beirut at ESIB – Mar Roukoz on February 11 – 12, 2025. This year’s forum topics evolved under the theme “Shaping a Resilient and Equitable Digital Ecosystem for Lebanon” where the discussions revolved around the following sub-themes:
- Inclusive, Safe and Sustainable Digital Lebanon
- Governance, Digital Transformation and Economy
- Cybersecurity and Online Safety
In this forum, Eng. Shihab co-organized one main session titled
“Safeguarding Digital Safety and Human Rights in the Lebanese Context” and one capacity building session titled
“Navigating the World of Cybercrime and Cybersecurity: A Digital Eye-Opener”. She was also appointed as the Rapporteur for the capacity building session.
Following the event, the LMAG will be issuing an inclusive report of all the sessions and recommendations highlighted in the forum. All material will be posted on the
LIGF website.
