Dr. Imad Hoballah Commissioner, Board Member, Head of Telecommunications Technologies Unit at the TRA and Eng. Said Haidar Senior Quality of Service Management Expert at the TRA participated today, Monday February 8, 2010 in the first meeting of the "Regional Pan Arab Observatory for Cyber Security" at the Antonine University in Baabda.

Eng. Haidar on behalf of Dr. Imad Hoballah gave a presentation titled “Cyber Security Organizations and Efforts” in which he discussed the threats of cyber crime and highlighted the role and responsibilities of the Government, the private sector, the individual and the civil society towards cyber security and the Steps to be undertaken to develop a Culture of Cyber Security.

The observatory gathered representatives from the Ministry of justice, the General Directorate of the ISF ”Cyber crime and intellectual property office”, the Regional Bureau of Microsoft, the Arab League “Center of judicial an legal studies”, the Lebanese Information Technologies Association (LITA), LIBNOR, OMSAR and the telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

Representatives from the Committee of ICT in the Lebanese parliament and the Committee of Telecommunications in the Lebanese Parliament as well as Dr. Fouad Gamal, Vice Chairman of Information and Decision Support Center in the Egyptian Cabinet (IDSC) were also present at the observatory.
