Organized by the SAMENA Council at Phoenicia Intercontinental Hotel, the Broadband Wireless Summit 09 gathered key decision makers and network implementers to understand deployment strategy elements and converse with wireless broadband experts.
The TRA was represented by Dr. Kamal Shehadi, Chairman and CEO, Mr. Patrick Eid, Board Member and head of Market and Competition Unit, Dr. Imad Hoballah, Board Member and head of Telecommunications Technologies Unit in addition to several staff members.
Dr. Shehadi opened his speech with a call for action asking the Lebanese government to facilitate the access to Public properties in order to help the development of the telecommunications sector in Lebanon and attract investors to the country. He also emphasized on the importance of telecom market liberalization and the application of law 431.
Mr. Eid chaired the session “standardized broadband wireless technologies: perspectives, challenges” and opened the panel with a presentation tackling the launch of 4 G services through WiMaX & LTE technologies that provide broadband services to end consumers over wireless networks.
In a session chaired by Dr. Hoballah about “Service Oriented Spectrum Strategy”, Mr. Mohammad Ayoub, Spectrum Affairs Manager at the TRA, presented the Authority’s Spectrum management strategy and emphasized on the TRA’s role and objectives.
