The TRA and the Ministry of Economy and Trade signed an MoU Wednesday 11th February. A fundamental step is being taken to protect telecommunications
consumers rights and solve their complaints. Mr. Fouad Fleilfel, Director General of the MoET and head of the Consumer Protection Directorate (CPD) at the Ministry, had already set-up a hotline within CPD to handle all consumers complaints including telecom ones. Both institutions will be now joining their efforts and will be sharing this hotline as a first step to better serve telecom consumers.
The TRA plans to develop a shared SQL database with its related web-interface to bridge a real-time communication with the MoET in order to take action and resolve telecom complaints in a regulated, efficient and timely manner.
The signing of this MoU is the first phase of a threefold project. The second step will consist in developing and implementing the synchronization system. The TRA will be finally releasing an awareness campaign to officially collect all consumers complaints.
