On March 27, 2023, the ACT Project Steering Committee (ACT PSC) held its 2nd committee meeting at the CITEA Hotel, Beirut for the purpose of presenting the Strategic Progress Report 2022-2023 for the Advance Counter Terrorism for Lebanon Security Project.

The meeting was co-chaired by a representative of Judge Mahmoud Makkieh, General Secretary of the Council of Ministers, and Mrs. Alessandra Viezzer, Head of the Cooperation Section, EU Delegation. It also gathered representatives from FIIAP, CIVIPOL, Arma dei Carabinieri, EU, Spanish Embassy, French Embassy, Italian Embassy, as well as Lebanese representatives from governmental organizations in the Telecom, Banking, Finance, Law Enforcement and Academia sectors.

Eng. Manal Shihab, TRA Senior Software Expert, participated in the ACT Steering Committee, where she presented to the audience the positive impact of the capacity building trainings held in 2022. She emphasized on the training success in upskilling the national cybersecurity team for readiness and preparedness against cyber-attacks. She highlighted how the National Cyber Crisis Management Exercise that was held in March 2022 and simulated a large-scale ransomware attack on governmental organizations trained the teams to put their theoretical knowledge acquired in the trainings into practice. Moreover, she concluded her intervention by emphasizing on the importance of adopting the national cybersecurity strategy and the establishment of the National Cybersecurity Agency in Lebanon.
