The
Lebanese Internet Governance Forum (Leb IGF) is a national initiative aimed at opening the debate on Internet governance issues in Lebanon among the various stakeholders representing the public and private sectors, academia and civil and technical society. In light of the preparations for
Leb IGF 2021 that will be held on 23-25 November,
Eng. Manal Shihab,
TRA’s Senior Software Engineer, has been appointed as the focal point to debate Internet governance issues on behalf of the
Telecommunications Regulatory Authority with the
Multistakeholder Advisory Group (LMAG) of the Lebanese Internet Governance Forum (Leb IGF).
On September 30, 2021, Eng. Manal Shihab participated in a virtual meeting organized by LMAG where representatives of the NGOs, Universities, Technical Community and Incubators were gathered to expose their position and reflect on the main issues and challenges of Internet policies in Lebanon. Eng. Shihab emphasized on the crucial and active role of the TRA in defining the regulatory and policy framework of Internet governance in Lebanon while relating it to the themes proposed this year. This meeting comes within the framework of a series of national coordination and consultation meetings planned by the LMAG of the Lebanese Internet Governance Forum (Leb IGF), with the various stakeholders concerned with Internet Governance.
Leb IGF 2021 will be held on 23-25 November with the following identified themes:
- Access and Inclusion
- Security and Trust
- Digital Rights and Freedoms
- Digital Transformation
