During the Radiocommunication Assembly that was held on October 25th in Sharm el Sheikh, Mr. Mohamad Ayoub, Spectrum Manager at the TRA, was nominated and elected to represent Lebanon as Vice Chair in Study Group 1 of the Radiocommunication Sector at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The Radiocommunication Assemblies (RA), normally convened every three or four years, are responsible for the structure, programme and approval of radiocommunication studies at ITU.

The ITU-R Study Groups develop the technical bases for decisions taken at World Radiocommunication conferences and develop global standards (Recommendations), reports and handbooks on radiocommunication matters. More than 5000 specialists from administrations, telecommunications industries and academic organizations throughout the world, participate in the work of the Study Groups on topics such as efficient management and use of the spectrum/orbit resource, radio systems characteristics and performance, spectrum monitoring and emergency radiocommunications for public protection and disaster relief.
