The
Minister of Telecommunications HE Mr. Jamal El Jarrah met with the TRA staff at the Authority’s premises on Monday, May 8.
He was accompanied by
Mr. Naji Andraos, General Manager of construction and equipment at MoT,
Mr. Imad Kreidiye, CEO and General Manager of Ogero,
Mr. Naji Abboud, head of Owner Supervisory Board at MoT and the Minister’s senior advisor
Mr. Nabil Yamout.
Mr. Amine Moukheiber, TRA Acting General Manager, greeted the delegation in the name of all and stressed on the need for full cooperation between the TRA and the ministry. He then left the floor for Minister Jarrah who introduced his team and the projects at hand.
Minister Jarrah explained his vision of the telecommunications sector, which should be based on the cooperation between public and private institutions in order to push forward this crucial sector. He also mentioned that an urgent solution should be found for the rehabilitation of
Law 431 and the sector modernization as well as the execution of a political consensus for the sector’s policy and status.
Mr. Kreidiyeh and Mr. Andraos also described the status of the telecommunications sector while emphasizing on the urgent need to develop it and modernize it to meet customers’ demand. Mr. Naji Abboud exposed his strategy based on the development of a new business model to monitor the performance of the mobile management companies.
The discussion followed with a series of Q&A between the TRA team and the ministry representatives that stressed on the need to enforce Law 431 and find ways to move forward for the development of the sector and the enforcement of the TRA prerogatives.
Minister Jarrah left the TRA premises on a positive note calling for cooperation between all telecommunications entities as they all work for the same employer which is the Lebanese people.
