Dr. Imad Hoballah was interviewed by
CommsMEA where he answered Roger Field’s questions related to crucial topics such as the level of competition and development in the Lebanese telecom market, 3G introduction, broadband dissemination and privatization.
Dr. Hoballah states in this article that the country represents a rare growth opportunity in a region where most countries are fast reaching saturation. But to tap this opportunity, he believes that Lebanon must overcome some major hurdles. He also stressed on the fact that the TRA has made good use of the intervening time, which has been spent preparing the regulatory framework.
Highlighting the 3G introduction to Lebanon, Dr. Hoballah revealed the obstacles that hindered its expected launch, while clarifying that the TRA has not yet received a formal request from the Ministry of Telecommunications related to the spectrum required for 3G services.
