Fair and independent governance in the telecom sector: a key driver of economic progress
December 09, 2025

In a world increasingly shaped by connectivity, the telecom sector stands at the heart of national development, economic competitiveness, and social inclusion. From mobile coverage and broadband expansion to cybersecurity and consumer protection, every aspect of modern life depends on reliable, transparent, and efficient telecom systems.

Achieving this level of performance, however, is only possible when the sector is governed fairly and independently by a regulator.

Fair and independent governance is not simply an administrative formality it is the backbone of a healthy telecom ecosystem. It ensures that decisions are made objectively, policies are implemented transparently, and all market players, big or small, operate under the same rules.

For countries aiming to restore trust in public institutions, this governance model is indispensable. The reactivation of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in September 2025 marks a decisive step toward establishing fair, independent governance and advancing the development of Lebanon’s telecom sector.
