The
TRA played a central role in the
Government Roundtable for Arab Countries, co-hosted by the
RIPE NCC and
Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), where regional regulators gathered to strengthen cooperation on Internet development and digital resilience on December 4th in
Cairo.
The meeting focused on advancing collective efforts to build a secure and sustainable digital infrastructure across the Arab region. Discussions addressed the need to accelerate IPv6 deployment, enhance routing security through RPKI, expand Internet exchange points to improve local connectivity, and continue investing in capacity-building for policymakers.
The TRA was represented by
Dr. Jenny Gemayel,
Chairwoman, and
Dr. Rajaa Al Charif,
Board Member and Head of Legal and Licensing Unit. Reflecting on the TRA’s engagement, Dr. Gemayel
noted that
“The TRA is committed to advancing an open, secure, and resilient Internet across the Arab region. Our participation in this roundtable reflects our dedication to regional cooperation and to building the technical and policy foundations needed for a sustainable digital future.” During the discussions, the TRA proposed to host the tenth edition of the roundtable in Lebanon and this initiative was welcomed by all participating delegations.
